How often should I bring my pet in for veterinary exams?

Here at Animal Medical Centre South we believe in the power of yearly visits. Having your pet examined every 6-12 months based on age and conditions can ensure that lingering or slow progressing conditions can be caught early and managed appropriately. When they reach their senior years, we’ll expect to see your pet semi-annually. Their immune system will be weaker at this stage and they’ll need closer attention to prevent diseases from developing. What happens during a veterinary exam?

Wellness visits at our practice include a full physical examination. Afterwards we may recommend diagnostic tests if we suspect your pet has any underlying medical condition. These concerns are usually brought up through conversation with pet parents or if we spot any abnormalities in their blood work. We offer a full service clinic that can complete everything from X-rays to bloodwork on site at our in-house laboratory. If any medical conditions are identified we will discuss treatments, such as surgery or therapy, and preventative care to protect your pet from disease or illness.
